update

hola amigos

well, no pictures this time. forgot the camera in the car. anyhoo, we are in san pedro la laguna on the lake atitlan. the country is guatemala!

we have spent the last couple of weeks in the antigua area. we ended up getting one break in, as the blog de sylvain shows. but, due to the integrity of the security system that sylvain and vincent made... no damage done to the van!

it should be noted that the only thing that the thieves could steal was sylvain´s music collection... which they promptly left on the street!!! hahahahaha

whatelse. we did a volcano mountain bike ride one day. super fun. climbed an active volcano, saw some lava. tres cool.

next we left for the famed lago de atitlan. the first city was called panajachel, and it is super touristy - too touristy for us. so we left. we headed to san pedro for our week of language school. 20 hours/5 days of instruction for $50US each. tres cheap! anyways, sylvain has a good teacher, i have a 19 year old teacher who is not a teacher. but i am learning a lot of san pedro gossip, and it is good for my conversational skills... i am lookign on the bright side. honestly, my $50 US could have been spent in a better way. but, that is the roll of the dice. as it is, there is not too much to complain about. i am learning underneath a palm hut by a huge lake with a volcano looming above me. not too bad.

sylvain and i have contracted another bout of sickness. first him, then me. i am calling it a natural cleanse! unfortunately, having the ¨tourista¨sickness is not too cool when you live in a van without toilet access! but, on the upside, we have been saving a lot of money on food! today was our first meal where we both ate a plate of food in three days! we are almost in top shape!

mechanically, we have a little leak in gasoline. my friend tara is comign down on the 25th so she is going to bring a replacement fuel filter for us. no big deal - we just currently have terrible mileage!

the driving in guatey is insane. we are actually scared when we are on the highways.

blah blah... not too much else is happening here. we have one week until dearest tarita blesses us with her presence. we are pretty excited for a new face!

our plan for the next couple fo weeks is to head up to Xela, supposed to be a nice city, chill there for a while, then head to antigua. while in antigua, these two guys took pity on us and offered us a shower and bathroom access... so we became instant friends. we had our first after hours poops party in antigua! and the next day when we wanted to leave... we had no battery! too much music and light action! anyways, we are heading back to antigua for my birthday celebration. should be a good time!

so that is about it. we are getting better, and are only in guatey for about 10 more days, then we head to el salvador and nicargua for 2 weeks with tarita. then we meet my parents in costa rica for a week... then it is 12000 kms to home. UGH. but we are looking forward to the return as well!
