Drive Home - Part 1

Here are some shots of the epic drive home. Well, the start of the epic drive home. We had a little MAJOR mechanical problem, totally preventable, totally expensive, totally sucked. Anyhoo, we ended up getting stuck in Oaxaca, Mexico for about 2 weeks. Which is why we are not home now!!

This part of our trip went fab. We drove from Costa Rica to Mexico in just 3 days. The borders were quite crazy on the south, but, surprisingly, on the way home they were hassle free! Tara and Bob, you wouldn't believe the difference with the borders! I am glad you guys were with us for the southern portion - we have witnesses to the madness!

Costa Rica/Nicaragua border... semi (van in Quebec) madness!

Nicaragua - there was a procession of horse drawn carts. Like hundreds of them!!! We were probably driving past them for over half an hour!

Typical road hazards. By the way, they don't move when you honk at them!

View from the car.

Umm... I think this is a border between El Salvador and Guatemala. It is crazy busy, with animals, people, cars, scooters, bikes, super loud music and honking... all in barely moving traffic and above 30 degree temperatures!

Like, why is that goat family there???? In the middle of the street, in the middle of the city - without a parent!

Mexican market - what are those things??

The long drive gets tiring, and we must entertain ourselves!

Pretty little mountain church

The type of road we broke down on. Except our part was going uphill on a corner. Notice how wide the shoulder is... now think how wide Poopsy is... you will notice there is not enough room for us!

Um, not really an explanation here. This is what happens when you take your camera to go pee with you and your brain is fried from endless driving!!! I believe he is mimicking as though he were pricked by the cactus...

It was all fun and games until someone broke the transmission! This is Poops getting pushed down the mountain to the next town. Little did we know that this little joy ride would cost us soo much!!!! Honestly, we were like waving at each other in our respective vehicles - we were having a crazy, fun adventure! Idiots.

And, well, honestly, this was how we dealt with our problems. :)
